Plan Your Visit

The Village of Jemez Springs invites you to visit and enjoy area’s natural mineral hot springs and beautiful scenery.  Take a soak and get a massage at the area's only Bath House.  Shop at local artist galleries, have a nice meal at any of several dining spots, and stay the night with someone special.  Local music events and art happenings are frequent and small-town hospitality is abundant.

Jemez ValleyIf you like to spend time outdoors, the area’s unique geologic history offers a rich variety of opportunities -- miles of scenic views, hiking trails, campgrounds, and fishing spots all along the Jemez River.  The Valles Caldera offers many educational and recreational opportunities to visitors.  Please contact the US Forest Service for the latest information about trail conditions and fire danger levels.

Lots of local color centers around the Village square, which includes a playground, library, gazebo, sun clock and skate park.  Independence Day and Luminarios Day are traditional and festive, and the colors in the fall (usually peaking the 3rd week of October) are simply spectacular.

Browse this website for more information including calendar of events, directions, weather and links to local area businesses and organizations.  Please treat the wilderness with respect, handle fire responsibly, and pack out your trash so future generations can also enjoy the beauty of this high-desert environment.

Jemez Mountain Trail

Just northwest of Albuquerque, in Sandoval County at the village of San Ysidro (Junction of NM 550 and 4) begins one of New Mexico's most spectacular scenic drives, the Jemez Mountain Trail, declared a National Scenic Byway in recognition of its fantastic natural and cultural resources.

Traveling this trail is a journey through time. A leisurely day trip takes you past amazing geological formations, ancient Indian ruins, the Jemez Pueblo and the remainders of the area's logging, mining and ranching heritage. Much of the region is now a National Recreation Area, and there are many opportunities for hiking, fishing, camping and cross country skiing. The Jemez Mountains is famous for its natural hot springs.
