Volunteer

Have some extra time? Help out at the library. Volunteers make it possible! Here are some easy ways to lend a hand.

Adopt A Shelf Pick a shelf of books that you would like to spend time with each month. Then keep it dusted, clean and in order.
Re-shelve Books Need a little Dewey Number or alphabet practice? This is the place!
Cleaning Ever checked out a dusty library book? Come help us keep our shelves clean.
Holiday Decorations Help set up special holiday displays or make decorations for the library.
Special Projects Please ask the librarian about other opportunities such as assisting with programs.

Please contact the Library Director if you are interested in serving on the Library Board.

 

 

Join the Friends

The Friends of the Jemez Springs Public Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves the Jemez Springs Public Library through volunteer activities and fundraising. With the support of the Friends, the Library:

  • Is open five days a week
  • Offers free computer, email, and internet access
  • Conducts special programs & events
  • Provides interlibrary loans
  • Co-sponsors collection development

 

The goals of the Friends of the Jemez Springs Public Library are:

  • To raise awareness of the library's resources among area residents
  • To promote literacy for children and adults
  • To raise funds to support library needs and programs
  • To recognize and encourage the appreciation of the mult-cultural heritages in the Valley (Anglo, Hispanic and Native American).
  • To provide special literary and cultural experiences for this rural community which would not ordinarily be available.

Human Sundial

Human SundialAs part of the Jemez Springs 50th Anniversary Celebration, the Friends of the Library sponsored the construction and installation of a Human Sundial in the Village Park. This unique installation is a lasting gift to the Village and a fund-raiser for the Library.

This ground-level sun clock surface uses a person's own shadow to tell the correct clock time. The sundial is surrounded by a circle of names, each one written in a concrete stone.

For a minimum donation of $15 to the Jemez Springs Library you can add your name or the names of loved ones to the circle. Entry forms are available at the library, or to download the Friends of the Library Human Sundial form click here:

Make Your Vote Count

Another simple way you can help your local public library is by casting your vote in favor of State "Go" Bonds and other public initiatives during election cycles.  These funding sources are important part of keeping rural libraries in New Mexico going strong.

If you are not a registered voter, free voter registration cards are available at your library.

Libraries and educational facilities in New Mexico depend on you. Make your vote count!
